I prefer having fresh air coming in through the windows but in the cold months that’s just not viable to do all day. My office gets so stuffy with the windows closed, but with this little air purifier it’s completely changed. My space is no longer stuffy while this purifier is running on just the lowest setting. And it’s dead quiet! Loving it to pieces!

When the pandemic hit the world full-force, in April 2020 — our governments having locked us down — citizens had to use their lights to survive what would be harrowing months inside their homes. The first thing I did was to buy masks; then vitamin supplements; then I looked to see how I could improve air quality around me. Suddenly, the air one breathed, could be filled with hidden aerosoles bringing death to one’s loved ones. I was concerned. My partial solution: buy the Swedish-made “BlueAir 411 Air-Purifier”.I was lucky. Within one day of my purchase, this Air Purifier was sold out, and back ordered for a month. When it did arrive, I immediately thought it looked like a toy. It is compact, charming, almost sweet-looking. It had an undefinable otherness which most gadgets don’t: a Nordic cool, which goes far beyond Ikea. Though I have a classic, not especially modern, décor, it fit it like a glove. It took a while to situate it, but eventually I chose the central location of our kitchen.Almost immediately I saw its benefits when I burnt dinner and the fire alarm went off. Opening the windows, I left the area and returned about a half hour later. Incredibly, the smell was absolutely gone. Almost as if nothing had been burnt. I decided to test this capability by putting an old handbag I loved, but which had gone musty, near it. Now, it didn’t take out ALL the smell after I set it near the tower. But 80% of it had gone. I could not believe it.And let me tell you, this munchkin Air Purifier is a little workhorse. I ran it nonstop for about a week, and it never once stopped whirring around, or lessened its effectiveness. The entire house, not just the kitchen, smelt purer, cleaner, better. I used to work in a place which piped in pure oxygen to stimulate the brain to work more efficiently, and this is the exact sensation you get now with the BlueAir Purifier.Speaking of workplaces, since I’m unemployed, thanks to the pandemic, I couldn’t afford a higher-priced model, but you can bet your life I’ll buy one of them, the moment my fortunes change. I’m eyeing the “medium-sized” 311 as my next BlueAir.Some details:- There are three settings, which light up when touched. These are very sensitive, and it takes a little practise, as one more touch than necessary forces you to go through the cycle of settings. But you’ll get the hang of it.- The ‘on’ light is a bother at night, and I’ve seen some nifty workarounds in reviews. We put our cell phone on top of the light, at night. Problem over.- When you change the filter, tap once, and the tap-hold it for 10 seconds. It tells the gadget that there’s a new filter.- You can buy the pre-filter “sock” in various colours, or just wash them. I compromised: I let the original get very mucky (see filterphotos), and then just bought a new one (another blue, it’s so choice). I thought laundering it would fade the sock’s elegant hue, and would make it too stretchy. The photo of the sock is the slate grey one, which comes

It’s a great, simple air purifier. It is 16.5 inches tall, roughly 7 or 8 inches across. Has a fan in the top which blows up, pulling air into the bottom sides and through the filters. Seeing the fur and dust collected on the cloth pre-filter after a few weeks makes it obvious that it’s working. And it’s nice that I can just swap out that cover and wash it without much fuss.My only issue is that while it started off as quiet, that didn’t last. Within a month the quiet setting developed this rapid knocking or clicking sound. It’s not very loud, but it is very audible at night when I’m lying in bed. So at this point I’m just turning it off before bed, and trying to remember to turn it back on in the morning.I’m not sure if the sound is also happening on the middle or high setting, as those settings are both much louder. So it may be getting drowned out, or it might not be happening at all on those modes.Other than that sound issue though, it seems like a solid device.

I have been running my air filter pretty much non stop. Every 2 weeks I have to clean the sock on the outside due to all the dust that accumulates on it. It is definitely doing it’s job. I cannot speak to the nuances about what it can and cannot filter but I have noticed an improvement in my allergies. The full tilt mode of the purifier is similar to having a fan running in a room. I find it kind of pleasant as white noise. It is really quiet on the low setting but I cannot speak to it’s effectiveness on the low setting as I run mine on high.

We have had this air purifier for several months and run it in our bedroom. We finally pulled off the outside sleeve and washed it because it was so dirty. This is a good sign because it tells us it is working pretty well. We run it on low all day and then crank it up to medium at night. It is a bit noisy, but the sound doesn’t bother either of us.

My son had a stuffy nose and it was summer. We had a Rainbow Vacuum salesperson stop by and talked about air quality (which we didn’t buy). After talking with my wife and doing some googling, I thought we’d try an air purifier. Lots of brands, lots of choices, but it felt that the data leaned toward Blue Air being slightly superior in both using less energy and its “one job”, cleaning air. We put the air purifier in his 12×11 room, hit turbo (level 3), and shut the door. Later that night (several hours later), we went to level 2, which is pretty quiet, and my boy woke up with no stuffy nose at all. He wanted 4 stars on noise level, but it is going to be louder, its not that bad. No louder than a car on idle.I got it cause I have 3 kids and the outside sock cover comes in Pink. As a parent with 3 kids, it can become a purchase of 3 of them, so this sock cover thing also swayed/reinforced my decision.

I’ve been using room air purifiers for years to help with my allergies. I’ve always owned the HEPA-type with the carbon and paper filters. Filter replacement was always expensive, so I went looking for a less bulky, less costly brand than the old Holmes brand. Consumer Reports mentioned the BlueAir brand. I had never heard of them before, but they were highly rated on CR so I bought this model.I LOVE the all-in-one filter. It’s so affordable and easy to replace. I love the fabric cover/pre-filter. So simple to vacuum or even throw in the washer. I love how quiet this is on the lowest setting. The medium setting might be too loud for some at night, but it’s much quieter on medium than other air purifiers I have owned. The high setting is loud, but it’s great to leave on all day when you’re at work. If you close the door and leave it on high all day, when you come home you can actually smell the freshness of the room. If you have allergies, asthma, or share walls with a smoker next door, you very much need to buy BlueAir.I also love how the light at the top turns red when it’s time to replace the filter. Some of my old models had filter indicator lights that stopped working after 6 months, so after that you’re just guessing about when to change the filter. BlueAir has such a simple, logical, efficient design.

This is definitely one of the quietest air purifiers I’ve ever owned (except on the high speed). I have one of these in my office and one in the bedroom, and the bigger 4 series in our living room. I have suffered from allergies to mold and tree pollen for years and I would say this has made a small difference for me, but has not completely solved all of my allergy problems and for that I will deduct a star. The filters are easy to replace and I really appreciate that the pre filter is washable so you don’t have to keep buying them (and you get an extra one with the unit so you never have to be without a prefilter). The filters last about 6 months and you can get a good discount direct from the manufacturer if you auto-ship them.
