Q: How safe are UV purifiers?
The biggest issue with UV purifiers is that they emit varying levels of ozone. Even very small amounts of ozone in the air may result in chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath, and throat irritation. In fact, The World HealthOrganization (WHO) has issued a warning against people using UV light to sterilize their hands or any other part of their skin.
Q: How effective are UV purifiers?
Not very. Microbes have to spend some time in front of the UV light before they’re destroyed. The EPA explains that microbes must be exposed to the light “on the order of minutes and hours rather than the few seconds typical of most UVGI air cleaners”.

Primarily I bought the 600S because I live in California wildfire country and the last fire caused smoke that was as thick as fog for weeks. I didn’t know what to expect but I was desperate. I plugged it in and the PPMs inside my house were over 600. After about 30 mins on high, my headache was completely gone and the PPMs were down to less than 100. It keeps my house below 10 PPMs continually. The secondary effect is that I no longer need an inhaler. For over a year I have been using an inhaler to control a wheez, and I haven’t needed it since I got this wonderful machine. The tertiary effect is my blood pressure is now back to normal at 120/68. Since starting on the inhaler my blood pressure hovered at an average of 155/90 and the Dr. was about to put me on BP meds. Who would have thought that clean air could have had such a positive effect on overall health. I bought three more units, one for my parents and one for each of the kids. This needs to be on the mind of every Dr. as they first try to diagnose respiratory issues, and the cost should be covered by HMOs. This machine saved Kaiser a lot of money on my future care alone. As far as noise, on the highest setting you can hear the fan but it’s not obnoxious. On automatic, it generally stays between level 1 and 2 and is completely silent. Totally worth it. I will forever keep this in my home.

I was a little skeptical at first. We’ve never had an air purifier before and when we plugged it in, it automatically said our air was good.. and it stayed that way for weeks. It wasn’t until my husband was cooking something in the kitchen and it started putting off a little smoke that the purifier turned red and the fan kicked up on high, that I started believing it worked. Now that we are using our fireplace, the purifier also kicks on when it gets a little smoky. I’m really glad we have it now!

I have had this product for months and will not ever live without one. My brother and daughter now have them because they were so impressed with my clean air. My rental house is very old and has an old wood smell. I ran this unit on the highest setting, left the house for a few hours and was in absolute awe when it returned. The house smelled clean, the air was so smooth. My allergies have improved, my sleeping has been perfect, and I no longer wake up with sinus headaches. This is a must have!!!!! I also have the smaller version on my nightstand. On the highest setting it has noise, however, I’ve only used the highest setting the first few days. It now runs between Leven 1 and 3 daily and is quiet. The one my daughter has is in her garage that is used for the children’s playroom. It cleared the air in about two days. The other great thing is that this unit and my smaller unit give off cool air making the use of the central air almost unnecessary.

I got this purifier to place in my basement by my work desk to hopefully help with allergies caused by my cats. No getting rid of the cats isn’t an option, as my kids might never forgive me, and they are pretty awesome cats. So I needed something to clean the air where I work, and the Levoit Core 400s has done a spectacular job in the 2 weeks or so that I have had it running. My eyes itch far less than they did, I’m breathing better, and sneezing less. The noise level is quite low unless you put it on high fan mode, but it cleans the air quite well on fan speed one or 2 as well. I barely hear it running during my work day. I also like the smart functions of the smart app. Setting schedules for it to turn on and off automatically, or switch on if air quality drops a certain amount, etc. This thing has been scrubbing the air quite well, and the only downside is that now I want to get a few more of them to place is a few other areas of my home.

I have a lot of allergy issues, I bought small one to see how it would work and it worked fantastic. Then I bought one a little bigger than this one to do the living room, and then I bought the extreme big big one to do the Full House so I’m invested in three of them so far and I’m happy with all three and they have made a significant difference with my allergy and it is made my sleeping and breathing much improved. Haven’t found anything negative about it would definitely recommend making sure you get that charcoal filter with it it definitely takes out any kind of volatile smell. Definitely recommend.
